THE PROTECTOR
I’ll keep you safe… you’re just a little kitten… how could he possibly hate you? You’ve never done anything wrong… you just showed up at our doorstep tonight and I let you in… so I’ll protect you.
It’s not your fault… it’s him… but he’s only like that when he drinks… but the problem is… he ALWAYS drinks.
Tonight we’re going to find a NEW home. The old home hasn’t been the same since my Mom died anyway! Ever since then I’ve been treated kind of like the way you were treated tonight… and that’s NO WAY to be treated!
I don’t think I’ll miss it at all… I keep looking back because I want to make sure he’s not following us. You scratched him good… I told him to be nice to you… I guess he should have listened to me… but I’m glad you scratched him… I wish I could have helped!
Now it’s time start over! Everyone has to grow up sometime… so why not now… why not tonight? I think tonight will be the beginning of something really good! I’m glad you came along… I’ll be your protector. I’ll keep you safe!
We have everything two girls need! At least I think you’re a girl… I’m not sure how to tell. I see people look at the bottom to find out, but I don’t know what they’re looking at… I don’t see any labels anywhere. I can just tell you’re a girl… a strong girl like me… and we have everything we need! I have my favorite pajamas, my comfy sleeping bag and most importantly… we have each other! If you hadn’t come along… I’d still be there… with him! So I guess YOU are MY protector too! Thank you!!
