to honor all the unidentified servicemen who have died for their country, why shouldn’t Wizard Academy
have a Room of the Unknown Lost Boy to honor all the unidentified creators whose depth of brilliance wasn’t recognized during their lifetime?”

We received lots of other good suggestions, too, and all of them will be included in this special room to be built in The House of the Lost Boys on the campus of Wizard Academy. Here’s the plan: We’re going to place a journal in that room so whenever you’re on campus and want to add the name of a Lost Boy, just tell Vice-Chancellor Whittington and he’ll bring you the journal so you can add your name and the story that goes with it. When The House of the Lost Boys is complete, we’ll keep the journal in that room and whoever is staying there can read it. Then, when anyone wants to add a story, they’ll just need to find the student who’s staying in that room and ask if they can borrow the journal. Cool, huh?

Occasionally I’ll post those stories here in the rabbit hole.
Heck, Stories of the Lost Boys might even become its own website.

Whittington’s wife, Halle, plans to add the name of Henry Mosely, the scientist who proved that the periodic table of the elements can be arranged by atomic numbers – the number of protons in each atom – since each element has a unique number of them. He would likely have won the Nobel Prize in Physics had he not been killed in the Battle of Gallipoli on August 10, 1915, at the age of 27.

Here’s an idea: We’ll have Halle add Henry’s name and story to the journal on August 10 this year, since it will be the 100th anniversary of his death.  Be thinking about the Lost Boy whose name you plan to add to that journal. We’ve arbitrarily chosen the age of 39 years and 364 days to be the oldest “boy.” Anyone who lived beyond the age of 40 is not exactly a “boy” anymore. But hey, rules are made to be broken. If you write a Lost Boy’s story into our journal and that boy lived to be older than 40, we’ll let it stand. This is your school, remember? You get to rewrite the rules.

24 Hours a Day… Did you know that the Honor Guards at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery have never once left their post, not even during Hurricane Sandy? They have permission to seek shelter in those situations, but not one of them has ever chosen to do it. Wow.

NOTE: Lest you think we’re being chauvinistic with this whole “boy” thing, The House of the Lost Boys honors just 6 males who deserved better than they received, while Engelbrecht House honors 17 Broken Angels, females who likewise deserved better than they were dealt. And we built Engelbrecht House first. So calm down, okay? Sheesh. – Indy
