Science is the study of objective reality.
Art is the study of subjective reality.
Electromagnetic waves exist regardless of whether you perceive them. They are nonfiction. But colors exist only in subjective reality, as a result of transformations provided by our senses. They are fiction.
Likewise, chemicals dissolved in air or water exist in objective reality, nonfiction. But smells and tastes are purely subjective fiction. Smells and tastes do not exist, as such, outside our brains. And any association or meaning we experience in connection with a color, taste or smell is purely subjective as well.
Vibrations traveling in air or water are objective, real, nonfiction. But sound is a fiction that exists only in the mind.
Our ability to communicate is based on the assumption that other people will interpret subjective stimuli in ways that are similar to our own.
But when the reaction to a stumuli differs, communication grows more difficult.
Color, sound, smell and taste are very convincing fictions. So convincing, in fact, that humankind has embraced them as “reality.” This is why we have so many arguments.
A fiction is any subjective, personal reality that may or may not be adopted by the reader, listener or viewer.

Objective and Subjective realities are easy to differentiate.
But this is not true of non-fiction and fiction.
To “frame” a conversation is to set the stage for the fiction that is about to begin. (Again, a fiction is merely a subjective reality that may or may not be adopted by your reader, listener or viewer.)
