Greetings Indy,

 

I felt the need to share this with you. I have determined as I have gotten older that finding and sharing authentic thoughts and feelings about people I admire or have done good things for me is good for my soul. Hopefully good for theirs as well.

 

There are many impressive people that I have met at the Academy and in the pages of the Monday Morning Memo. None come close to Sue Williams. She is kind, elegant, and fiesty. She is honest, brave, and relentless. Her insights are golden and her humanity a beacon for confusing times. She shows no signs of bitterness though has many reasons to be if she wanted to. She is very, very funny, but does it with an ease and naturalness that I envy. While she is affable and easy going, she is not somebody I would want to cross. Her ability to convey strength through vulnerability is something I admire and try to emulate. As a northerner, I have trouble understanding the south and Texas at times. If we were all more like Sue, north or south, the world would be an immeasurably better and more interesting place. At times, I wonder if she is a real person or just an amalgamation of other characters and traits. But she is so authentic that even you, Indy, are not a good enough writer or storyteller to make her up. I think you should have T-shirts and bracelets in the academy store that say What Would Sue Do.

 

As the kids (used to?) say, she is the bomb.

The rest of you aren’t half bad either. ;}

1. It wasn’t the wizard’s idea that his mom should be in the rabbit hole.
2. It was the idea of his son, Jacob, that she should write a weekly story to be collected once a year into a book of family history. Nine copies of the 2020 version have just been published.
3. Not only was the wizard not involved in the process of creating these essays, he doesn’t think of the questions, nor does he edit a single word.
4. Send me your mailing address and I’ll ship you one of those nine copies. Hardback. Full color. Very cool.
5. I am the undisputed King and Emperor of the rabbit hole. When I saw what Sue was writing, I didn’t even ask the wizard’s opinion. You can always count on Indy Beagle to bring you the most invigorating stuff!
