I went to Golden Girl Dee’s burial yesterday.
On my way home I stopped at Two Kings restaurant in Ardmore to see my longest time friend Mary Alice McKee.
You may remember her as the one who grew up across the street from me; whose mother never ever let her leave the yard, etc. etc.
Her son Harvey owns Two Kings and Mary Alice was hostess there forever. I could always count on stopping at Two Kings to catch up with her.
I had heard that Mary Alice got married recently to Andy Adams, owner of a tire dealership in Ardmore. I wanted to get the skinny on that bit of news.
Mary Alice was not at Two Kings.
I visited with her son Harvey instead.
Harvey said Mary Alice hasn’t worked there since 2018… the year his Dad died and Mary Alice became a widow.
I told Harvey I wanted to talk to Mary Alice about her getting married.
Harvey instantly said, “She’s not married”.
Afterwards, any time I said “marriage”, Harvey would say “She’s not married”. It got kinda funny (to me).
Harvey says he checks marriage license info every single day (!) and has never found a license.
Why do people think she’s married?
“Because she calls Andy her husband.”
What does Andy say?
“I don’t talk to Andy”.
Is this a hoot or not!
Little Ardmore Oklahoma has its very own mystery!
“Is Mary Alice Married or Not Married”.
I’m thinking that Mary Alice finally left her yard.
