My World and Welcome to It
was a whimsical sitcom based on the writings of James Thurber.
Premiering 40 years ago, in September of 1969,
the show revolved around John Monroe,
an exasperated author/cartoonist who worked for a New York magazine
called The Manhattanite. (The real James Thurber worked for The New Yorker.)
The show used animations
based on the drawings of Thurber
to reveal the inner thoughts
of the show’s main character.
Did you think Ally McBeal pioneered that technique?
