Someone told me long ago, “There’s a calm before the storm.”
I know. It’s been coming for some time.
“When it’s over,” so they say, “it’ll rain on a sunny day.”
I know. Shining down like water.
I want to know,
have you ever seen the rain
coming down on a sunny day?
– John Fogerty
Have You Ever Seen the Rain?
made famous by
Creedence Clearwater Revival.
John says he wrote the song
when his brother, Tom, announced
he was leaving the group.
John was songwriter and lead singer.
Tom was drummer.
The split occurred when John chose
not to share songwriting credit with
the other members of the band.
In the photo above Tom is center, John is on the right.
Tom died of tuberculosis in 1990. They never reconciled.
