I say it belongs here, above the entrance to the art gallery,
facing The Old Man and the Sea 300 feet away. What say you?
Into the Wind isn’t actually here right now.
I’m just showing you what it could look like.
Is there a visionary woman
you’d like to honor?
Directly behind this magnificent bronze sculpture will be
a bronze plaque bearing the names of 48 visionary women.
The stories of these women – what they envisioned, what they
endured, what they accomplished and who they affected – will be
part of the official campus guide book that will be published in early
2012. Can you tell us about a woman who taught you something
important? Can you do it in 100 words or less?
The Old Man and the Sea was funded by 7 couples who gave $10,000 each.
His feminine counterpart, Into the Wind, will be the gift of
a larger number, each doing his or her own, small part.
(Those who have seen our Pendulum presentation will recognize the
Idealist and the Civic virtues of society reflected in these 2 bronzes.)
The 48 donors who fund Into the Wind will contribute just $1,000 each.
You, Rabbit-Hole Reader, are being told about this opportunity
before anyone else because, well, you’re family.
You can do the deed right now with a few clicks of the mouse or you
can call Kristin or Becke during business hours at (512) 295-5700.
Thanks for being one of the builders of the world’s first
