After Hours staring Griffin Dunne and Rosanna Arquette – directed by Martin Scorsese
A terrific “black comedy” about a dull office worker who decides to take a trip from his “safe” home on the Upper East Side of Manhattan down to Soho to see a woman he met in a cafe.
His night begins with his money blowing out the window of the cab and gets progressively worse from there. The nightmare adventure features him being pursued by a lynch mob through the streets of the city in a Mr. Softee truck(!) and ends with him being plastered into a human sculpture similar to Edward Munch’s “The Scream”.
The offbeat characters, fantastical circumstances and outlandish coincidences are woven together in unpredictable – and very funny – ways.
And after hearing Rosanna Arquette tell the story of an old boyfriend, you’ll never watch the “Wizard of Oz” without chuckling again.
Thanks,
