That iron door is 10′ tall and those glass doors on the floor above are 8′ tall.
Normal doors are just 6’8″. This is a life-size woman standing on the prow of a ship.
Into the Wind
is the name of this famous sculpture by Jane DeDecker.
It speaks of the quiet determination of women.
Chin up and eyes forward as she leans over the prow,
she is like a beautiful ship’s figurehead come to life.
This bronze sculpture is not yet on the campus of Wizard Academy.
We used the magic of Photoshop to place her where she’ll soon stand.
We hope to install her there for real this spring, but we’re still short
about $10,000. The names of 3 dozen women will appear on a
bronze plaque mounted on the back of that wall through which
our heroine leans. There is room for only 10 more names.
Do you know a woman who should be remembered forever?
Can you swing a $1,000 tax-deductible donation?
Just call Jackie or Becke during business hours
(Central Time) at 512-295-5700.
We’ll send you a fabulous baronial panel card
with this photo on the front. You can scribble a note inside
to the woman you’ve honored and give it to her for
Valentines Day or Mother’s Day or…
(For those who have already donated,
those cards will be mailed this week.)
When the landscaping is finished and the sculpture has been installed
and is ready for unveiling we’re going to have a crazy-good party.
I’ll give you just one guess who’s going to be invited.
Into the Wind will be the final work of public art
on the Wizard Academy campus.
We hear it every day.
“Gosh this is a magical place.”
