The Monday Morning Memo

The BeagleSword was pre-emptive
and the rabbit hole was serendipity and physics.

As you can tell from his recent writings,
Wizzo is anxious to step away from the responsibility
of managing Wizard Academy. His greatest fears have always been
(1.) that the school would become a cult of personality. Nothing creeps
Wizzo out so much as a person who wants him to be their guru.
This is
why he and Pennie maintain as low a profile as possible and the only
remembrance of them on campus will be the gift of Dennis Cole.
(2.) that the air-heads would someday take over the academy.
Wizzo calls the air-heads
“the Master Charles crowd.”
According to Wizzo, air-heads believe what they are told,
never bothering to check the facts.
They tend to do poetry and
call it science.

Although Wizard Academy embraces imagination and the arts,
it is ultimately a business school. Consequently, we are more
interested in what you are doing than who you are being.

We measure the outcome, not the motive.

Who is Master Charles, you ask?
Oh, you really, really shouldn’t have asked.

Random Quote:

“Without exception, totalitarian states invariably reject knowledge in the humanities, and states that reject such knowledge always become totalitarian.”

- The Japan Times, in response to a June 8, 2015 request from the Japanese government that the universities take “active steps to abolish [social science and humanities departments] or to convert them to serve areas that better meet society’s needs.”
