Painted in 1890, the portrait was supposed to be of my great grandfather and his business partner. But the painter, Frank Duveneck, left Grandpa out of the picture.
Fortunately, Grandpa was in plenty of other portraits of the period. Many of them hang in museums. Perhaps you've seen some of them.
