This is The Old Man and the Sea, a famous sculpture by Jane DeDecker, a very important artist. The old man, Santiago in Hemingway’s Nobel Prize-winning story, is an icon of determination. Wizzo says, “I first saw this sculpture 15 years ago and it has haunted me ever since. I recently contacted Jane DeDecker to ask if she would consider sculpting The Old Man as a life-size, bronze monument to be positioned at the beginning of the underground entrance to the tower. If Jane says yes I have no idea how I’m going to pay for it. But it has to be done. I’ll tell you why in next week’s rabbit hole.”
