Why it’s Important to Take Chances
by Gideon Williams (12)
Have you ever had a dream, a dream where you’re on a vast stage in front of an audience waiting to present yourself? Well I have every night since I was seven years old, and so I started performing on stage presenting myself for who I truly was, but it wasn’t til I was about 10 when I said, “Mom, Dad I want to be an actor!” Sure, they didn’t believe me right away, but after constantly begging and telling them I was serious did they really start to help me. After years I started getting multiple voiceovers and a few ads, and I got more experienced over time and started to feel more comfortable acting.
I may still be working my way up but I’m always gonna take chances and opportunities, even though it can be scary sometimes, and so should you!
Dreams can take up to a lifetime to achieve but even so you should always keep pushing to get there, keep practicing, gaining more knowledge and experience and maybe, just maybe will that dream come true. For example, my dream is to be an actor as I just mentioned but something I really think I’d enjoy being in is a comedy such as Modern Family, Last Man Standing, or something like Fuller House! Or maybe even an action film such as Marvel, DC, or a “save the day” type of vibe. I mean lets be honest, everyone wants to save the day! But even though I can’t just get there I need to first gain popularity, to stand out more and be confident which means taking classes to help me. It’s like studying for a test versus not. It’s that confidence level that you have that really helps you, that drives you.
But enough about me, what’s your dream? Perhaps it’s talking to people making them feel better about themselves or, it’s to be an athlete and play soccer, football or maybe even basketball, well guess what, that requires just as much practice, experience and work as being an actor or really just any dream in general. Of course I didn’t make this whole essay to say that the reason I made it is to tell you to take chances, and never give up! [Gideon received no help writing this essay.
