When Floyd was young and not yet a legend, a trip was made to Pompeii in the shadow of Vesuvius where a concert was staged in an ancient ampitheater for no one but Floyd and the world’s luckiest cameraman. Floyd had fun in the sun and played into the night, never forgetting that a rock star is smaller than a musician. Fame is almost always corrosive but Floyd proved to be unusually resistant.
