The Monday Morning Memo

When Floyd was young
and not yet a legend, a trip was made to Pompeii in the shadow of Vesuvius where a concert was staged in an ancient ampitheater for no one but Floyd and the world’s luckiest cameraman. Floyd had fun in the sun and played into the night, never forgetting that a rock star is smaller than a musician. Fame is almost always corrosive but Floyd proved to be unusually resistant.

Pink Floyd – Live at Pompeii – 1972
Roger Waters on guitar.
David Gilmour on harmonica.
Rick Wright on dog.

“Something told Dorothy she was not in Kansas anymore; maybe it was the color of the sky, maybe it was the air around her, maybe it was the sign on the side of the road that said, ‘Welcome to Missouri.'”
