Murder by Death
is a 1976 comedy film featuring Breakfast at Tiffany’s and In Cold Blood author Truman Capote, Peter Sellers, James Coco, Peter Falk, Alec Guinness, Elsa Lanchester, David Niven and Maggie Smith. It was written by Neil Simon (The Odd Couple.)The plot is a spoof of the traditional country-house whodunit. The cast is an ensemble of British and American actors playing send-ups of well-known fictional sleuths, including Charlie Chan, Hercule Poirot, Miss Marple, Nick and Nora Charles (The Thin Man series,) and Sam Spade.
