There is a famous quote about radio from Hunter S. Thompson that says, “The radio business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There’s also a negative side.”
Recently, I noticed the internet was teeming with misquotes from musicians who had replaced “radio business” with “music business.”
Outraged, I went looking for the original publication of the quote, so that I could speak with confidence.
I was surprised when I found it.
